Supporting Health and Performance with Bolus Supplementation

By Shaun MacEachan, Regional Retail Manager

Maintaining the right balance of trace elements and vitamins is essential for healthy, productive livestock. Nutritional imbalances can impact fertility, immunity, and overall performance, which is why many farmers now look to long-acting boluses as a reliable solution. The UF Country Bolus Range has been developed to provide sustained-release supplementation for both cattle and sheep, using proven technology to help animals thrive at key stages of the production cycle.

Cattle Boluses

The UF Country Cattle Bolus is designed to deliver six essential trace elements and three vitamins over an extended period – up to 240 days from a single application. This makes it particularly valuable for growing youngstock when nutritional demand is at its highest. A high iodine version is also available for herds where iodine deficiency is a known issue, while the UF Calcium Bolus supports dairy cows at calving, reducing the risk of milk fever and subclinical hypocalcaemia.

Sheep Boluses

The UF Country Sheep Bolus provides sustained release of five key trace elements for up to 180 days, supporting grazing and forage-fed sheep where mineral shortfalls are common. Smaller in size and compact to aid application especially in smaller breeds such as Blackies. For flocks where copper supplementation is beneficial, the Sheep Bolus with Copper offers the same duration of support with four essential trace elements. Both options are designed with rounded ends for easier administration and should always be given with an approved applicator.

Key Benefits of the Range

  • Sustained release through unique surface erosion technology.
  • Targeted formulations for different classes of cattle and sheep.
  • Extended duration (6–8 months for cattle, 180 days for sheep) from a single dose.
  • Improved health and performance through balanced trace element and vitamin supplementation.

The UF Country Bolus Range offers a practical, effective way to support herd and flock health, reducing the risk of deficiencies at the most critical times of the year.
