Scott Dey
Beef & Sheep Specialist – Aberdeenshire

When did you join Harbro and what’s your background?
I joined Harbro in June 2024 as part of the beef and sheep team and have really enjoyed getting stuck into the livestock nutrition industry. Before that, I was a self-employed contract shepherd, a job I loved and still stay involved in by keeping a flock of breeding ewes of my own. I also studied at SRUC Craibstone for two years before pursuing my career as a contract shepherd.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I love getting out on farm, meeting with customers, and seeing how their stock are performing. It’s rewarding helping them make their systems more efficient and seeing the results in their livestock performance.
Favourite Harbro product?
Ruminant Greengold or as I call it the “gold dust of the suckler world”! It is essential for newborns to get the best possible start in life so makes sense to give cows that extra protein source with added omega 3 in it to give calf’s that get up and go effect and get the best quality of colostrum into them as quick as possible.
What are your customers loving right now?
Champion Rumitech 35 is a popular product with customers as it gives farmers the option of utilising home grown cereals. It is perfect for growing rations and includes Rumitech which helps to improve performance and efficiency.
What do you get up to outside of work?
My own ewes keep me pretty busy all year round, and I enjoy every part of working with them. I’m also currently the District Chair for West Aberdeenshire Young Farmers this year and I am looking forward to the year ahead. When I get a chance I like catching up with friends and having a laugh with them.
