The Harbro team was delighted to join long-standing beef customer Alan Meston and his son Stewart at Chapelton Farm, Aberdeenshire, last week, when they had a visit from Mairi Gougeon, Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and Islands.

Maggie Hunter, Harbro Beef & Sheep Specialist, had invited Ms Gougeon to meet them on farm to learn more about how Harbro is helping farmers to take a sustainable approach to livestock feeding.

Shown in recent environmental assessments, to be one of the most efficient beef units in the UK, Ms Gougeon had the opportunity to discuss some of the many challenges, which farmers are currently facing with increases in costs and an ever-growing requirement to minimise environmental impact.
She was able to hear how Harbro is working on new innovative feeding solutions, looking at diet, sustainability and cattle performance with Alan and Stewart. The Meston’s have worked closely on a number of previous R&D projects and have been instrumental in developing feeding systems using products such as Rumitech and Maxammon to help drive efficiency and profitability, whilst supporting sustainability and carbon reduction.
